Winter Stonefly - Taeniopteryx

Winter Stonefly - Taeniopteryx
Smithville, Burlington County, New Jersey, USA
February 28, 2015
This insect was found basking on a sign near the North Branch of the Rancocas River at Smithville Park (the site of an old industrial village). At first glance, it looks like it might possibly be a fishfly, but I don't know this group at all, so would appreciate a more informed identification. We were shocked to see this insect on the date, but it was sunny and slightly warmer than it has been in NJ lately.
