unknown ant - Pheidole rhea

unknown ant - Pheidole rhea
Canyon along Ruby Road, Santa Cruz County, Arizona, USA
November 2, 2014
Can someone ID this ant species. There was no aggression going on, so I guess these individuals are just of different castes. They were crawling up the face of a north-facing rock cliff.

Moved from Myrmicinae.

Don't think there's any other large Pheidole with longs spines like that in the US. P. obtusospinosa is close in size but has much shorter spines.

Wow
Quite the propodeal spines on that major! Maybe a Pheidole rhea? Please do wait for an expert before moving...
