Scathophaga stercoraria ? with Syrphid fly prey - Scathophaga stercoraria

Scathophaga stercoraria ? with Syrphid fly prey - Scathophaga stercoraria
Mildred Knaipe County Park, Douglas County, Oregon, USA
March 12, 2015
Size: 10 mm
John asked if the prey might be Toxomerus, so I looked at more of our photos. I think it may be Toxomerus occidentals. (I'm no expert) I can also post photos of the four species of flower flies we saw at the same location the same day, but only one has the little diamonds on its back. You can just barely see the diamonds in this photo.
