Colorado Hairstreak ova - Hypaurotis crysalus

Colorado Hairstreak ova - Hypaurotis crysalus
mouth of Neff's Canyon, Salt Lake County, Utah, USA
March 14, 2015
Found the ovum singly at the base of the leaf buds of Gamble Oak. These little guys are hard to find! I didn't notice a picture of the ova in the Bug Guide picture library, so I thought I would post this picture. Hope to post pictures of larvae later.

Any larvae pictures? How sure are you that this is a Colorado Hairstreak?

Yes
Good question. I wasn't able to rear it all the way through. But, the two guys I went collecting the ova with, have raised it before and ID the ova. I did add a photo of the 1st instar larva.

Thanks!
A wonderful addition to the guide!
