Moved from Unidentified Leaf Mines.
If this was really plainly visible on the lower surface, I'd be tempted to suggest Scolioneura vicina, but the frass shouldn't be so densely packed in that species. Either way, this is a larva that was feeding in the spring and died without completing its mine.
