Identification
Judging by what i can see, I believe this is Corythucha melissae (Froeschner & Torrez Miller) However they say the specimens they examined were collected from Manzanita (Arctostaphylos regismontana) and not fir. however many lacebug species become numerous on their host plant and "spill out onto other plants" from their host. It does match the illastration for the description quite well, so I'll stick with my id. I hope Laura will take a look at this, because she helped describe the species. Good find!!!!!

I didn't make a note of it, but it would not have been surprising if there was Manzanita nearby... I'm happy to make a new species page and move these image there if you think that's warranted. I can also wait for Laura Miller to comment if that's preferable...
