This fly was seen nectaring on pussy willows at a wetland/prairie remnant on a sunny spring day. Many thanks for your expert help. Joy

Either D. pauxillus or D. pacificus - unfortunately they overlap in range in the Pacific Northwest and genital dissection is necessary to tell them apart there.

This image was added at a later date to the other three images. It is in fact a different species and should be posted separately. This larger image is a male Dasysyrphus. The other three are female Eupeodes volucris. If you compare them the differences are very obvious.
