Japanese beetle ?
HUGE beetles. There were several of these that came out this night. Also, there were several other LARGE types that I'm posting that came out that night. I don't know what the deal was....Jurassic night ?

see checklist - most are black, many with bright metallic spots on elytra. You get two green species; the larger and evidently more common C. scrutator (Fab.) as well as C. wilcoxi LeC. - both of which are in the guide. The large size [25-40mm] suggests scrutator.
