Not far below her was a smaller dark grey male orbweaver. I found her in an unused patch in the garden.

Did you happen to get a side shot where we can see the shape of the back of the abdomen from the side?

yes, i went and had a second photoshoot with her. never realized what was going on with the rear end was important for differentiating Eustala spp.

maybe eustala conchlea
initially i mistook her to have shoulder humps, but after a second photoshoot i realized this to not be the case. given the area, i think she's E. conchlea.
