Tiger Moth - Spilosoma? - Spilosoma virginica

Tiger Moth - Spilosoma? - Spilosoma virginica
Between Haysville and Clearwater, Sedgwick County, Kansas, USA
June 22, 2014
I found this moth dead on the front walkway, beneath some forbs. I'm guessing it was the victim of a wheel bug or other predator. I think it's one of the Spilosoma, perhaps S. virginica or S. congrua?

Cynthia, I don't often feel comfortable placing to species in this genus, but I think you have enough documentation on this one.

The ventral view shows both the yellow throat and the spot on the hind-wing (S. congrua has a totally white hindwing). The dorsal shows a peak of the yellow on the abdomen.

Thank you!
I was leaning towards S. virginica but I just wasn't sure. Thank you very much for your help!

.
You are very welcome.
