It is not as helpful to post your images here.
No one will ever see them unless they happen to open this image. It is much better to post your images to ID Request where everyone will see them. You can reference this image in your postings if you like.

Gotcha!
Wasn't sure how to do it, and thought you could only post to the ID request if you didn't know what the bug was. Thanks for letting me know.

lovely moth!

Deceptive Sallow Moth
Thanks to all. My teenage daughter took the photo. I did some searching and learned that Feralia deceptiva are supposedly common here in the Pacific NW; their caterpillars eat the Doug Fir needles. I've lived here most of my life and have done a fair amount of tromping through the woods, but I don't recall ever seeing this moth until now. I suppose they usually hide successfully during the day, instead of resting above a driveway on beige siding, like this one did. Does anybody have a link to a picture of the caterpillar? Maybe we'd recognize that as something we've seen. Also, we're guessing that such a colorful creature is recognized by birds as poisonous; anybody know?

Looks like
something out of the
Feralia
genus, I would say.
