S. atlacoya
I am quite sure that his is S. atlacoya Rheims, Brescovit, and Durán-Barrón, 2007. The palps (as well as coloring, marking, etc.) are quite clear. I have found many specimens of this in NC (not previously recorded from this state), and my specimens have been verified by the authors.

In fact, it now appears widespread from Texas (and into OK) through the Gulf states, and now as far north as central NC. I have since been finding many photos of this species identified as longipes, which is understandable, as I, too, at first thought it must be that, because it surely isn't thoracica!

Here are its authors' illustrations of longipes(L) and atlacoya(R): That "right angle" of the latter's palps appears to be unique in the genus!

And here is a photo of a palp of one of the males I sent to Brazil for confirmation:

(I've used the tags, but the preview doesn't show them--I'm happy to send them along if necessary and/or helpful.)

.
Hi Donald, would you be OK with me putting some links to some of your images onto the BugGuide info pages for S. atlacoya and S. longipes?

In particular, I think this female comparison and this palp comparison would be helpful information to have available to site visitors.

Longipes
is not known from NC, only Key West in US if I am not mistaken.
Looks like globula carapace in those images.

Ah, gotcha
Thanks for the clarification.
