so I think the posted phrase "Det. PW Messer, 2015" likely refers to my old image-based identification and possibly it was limited only to the genus "Cymindis". But in retaining that phrase now, I might be getting undue credit for "Cymindis laticollis". To avoid ambiguity, I feel it is essential to distinguish between the two kinds of determinations when crediting someone, i.e., physical-based versus image-based. If this case were stated "physical-based" then the likely scenarios are either that the borrowed specimen was returned OR the specimen is with me under a revised species name.
