Probably the very abundant introduced species Ph*moerens

Thanks for
the probable species ID. I am totally confused by the size of its compound eyes and ocelli, as well as its rounded face. None of those characteristics seemed to fit the Pheidole moerens you have identified for me before. Are the drones that much different from the other casts in that species? To me it looks a lot like Myrmelachista of Costa Rica that I found in an online key. Myrmelachista lauropacifica has “Ocelli large, width of median ocellus greater than distance between median and lateral ocellus; petiolar dorsum with conspicuous tuft of erect setae.”

But, Dr. Trager I am certainly not an expert and you are… I am just really confused. I will post a few more photographs that I just took.

Moved from ID Request.

Maybe it is a male
drone, ant??

Yes. Good catch!
In looking at the antennae, they are "elbowed." Thanks.
