Orchesella sp. near celsa - Orchesella alpa

Orchesella sp. near celsa - Orchesella alpa
Naples , Collier County, Florida, USA
April 2, 2015
Size: 1.75 mm
This springtail was captured in a dry pit trap in an oak scrub in an area of sand live oak leaves and ground lichens. Frans, I believe this individual might be in the middle instar between the two individuals I submitted yesterday. This one is ~1.75 mm, while yesterday's measurements were 1.5 mm and 2 mm. Incidentally, my measuring system is not very precise. The first image here is a lateral view, the 2nd image is the dorsal image your requested. The first two images below are of the 1.5 mm individual. The last two images are of the 2.0 mm individual. All of the individuals show those white lines on their faces, but some individuals are generally lighter in color, while others are a brownish-purple color.
