galls - Disholcaspis quercusmamma

galls - Disholcaspis quercusmamma
Cross Plains, Dane County, Wisconsin, USA
April 6, 2015
Remains of galls from which what I presume gall wasps have emerged. These galls were located on a stem of what I think was a Bur Oak sapling. The sapling was only about a year old and it looks like rabbits may have nibbled off the top part of the sapling leaving these galls. I'm disappointed that I didn't notice this last fall. At that time the sapling still had leaves and they must have covered the gall formation. As far as I could tell, all of the galls had exit holes on them.
