Winged Termite - Zootermopsis

Winged Termite - Zootermopsis
San Francisco, San Francisco County, California, USA
September 16, 2014
This is a winged termite. Found near porch light to entrance of a house. I think this one looks more like a Pacific Damp Wood termite than a Pacific Subterranean termite. I've seen this type of termite before in Thailand. In that case there was a huge swarm of them that got caught in the rain and flew in or got blown in onto the balcony of my hotel room. In the third photo, the termite appears to be shedding his wings.

Looks like dampwood to me--those are larger than the subterranean, which are black (at least the ones I've seen around here). The winged termites are alates, reproductives.
