I can just barely see a black edge on tergite 2 separating the yellow maculae from the edge of the abdomen, so this is Eupeodes - in Syrphus opinator the maculae reach the edge.

An amazingly small difference, my IDs are usually based on visual matches, not keys. I at least knew enough to have someone confirm!

I suppose I was close, got to Tribe, but I would have preferred Genus.

The front edge of the yellow
The front edge of the yellow markings is straighter ( less wavy ) in Syrphus opinator and Syrphus opinator also has the thorax somewhat pruinose. In Eupeodes the thorax is more shining and usually darker.

Syrphus opinator
Reminds me of Syrphus opinator, but another should confirm.
