Conophorus...thinking fenestratus? - Conophorus collini - female

Conophorus...thinking fenestratus? - Conophorus collini - Female
Oso Flaco Lake, San Luis Obispo County, California, USA
April 12, 2015
Found on Cryptantha leiocarpa in back dune near Oso Flaco Lake.

This is certainly a female Conophorus, and I think it's C. fenestratus but can't check details right now. (She got the "most cooperative model" award of the day...very still and well-behaved :-)

Moved
Moved from Conophorus.

I just checked Hall & Evenhuis(1) and although the bilobed scutellum with a medial groove is not visible here, the details of the wing infuscation (e.g. not filling the costal edge of the marginal cell) indicates C. collini (cf. wing diagrams on pg. 267 or Hall & Evenhuis(1)).

Also, this fly was one among a population of Conophorus all within feet of each other, and the others clearly exhibited the diagnostic bilobed scutellum of C. collini.
