Riley's Lappet Moth
This is a male Riley's Lappet Moth, Heteropacha rileyana, # 7685. This is a great find. It's the only photo of a live specimen that I'm aware of or that I can find. Most photos seem to be of worn specimens and the larger females. This species is considered endangered over parts of its range.

The best photo I know of for comparison is one by Jim Vargo on this MPG Plate.

Again, great find. I'm sure Bob will want this for the MPG site on the living moth pages.
