Megacyllene robiniae, Locust borer? females yellow stripes, males (presumably) white stripes - Megacyllene caryae - Male Female
Harveyville, Wabaunsee County, Kansas, USA
April 17, 2015
Size: 1" (body only)
Never seen these here (Eastern KS) before, but my wall is covered with a mating swarm. Per a Kansas bug ID page, I think they're locust borers, but this swarm includes specimens with white markings as well as yellow, all the bugguide pictures seem to show yellow stripes only.

Range from 3/4" to over 1" long.

At first I thought the white ones were all the males, but when went back and looked again, there were also mating pairs of two with yellow markings, and even some with both yellow and white markings on the same bug.

Do you have a date for this image?
From the remarks it seems to be happening now. If that is the case then it wouldn't be robiniae which is a fall creature. More likely caryae?
Please click on edit and put the date in the date field

Agreed
If it recent sighting it would be a Hickory Borer, Megacyllene caryae.
I believe the pattern matches a little better as well, although there are always variations.
