Trap for live-luring glow worm males

Trap for live-luring glow worm males
Ecuador, New Hampshire, USA
January 24, 2014
A courting male coupled with a captive female, the first confirmation of sex association that enabled my two specialists for this family to determine it was a new genus. They also said it was the first time they knew of that a sex association was simultaneous with the discovery of a new genus. If the male had reached the female and mated when I wasn't present I would not have been able to shoot a very informative series of images showing reproductive behavior. To prospective users and photographers, be ready to capture a mating pair's introductory behavior, which can be amazing to witness for this group at least.

Bug Guide editors: Yes, this image shows specimens from outside the Bug Guide region but it serves to illustrate the trap's usefulness and I'd like to keep it with the rest of the post without attempting to assign it to a taxon page.
