Mining Bee - Andrena - female

Mining Bee - Andrena - Female
Cross Plains, Dane County, Wisconsin, USA
April 27, 2007
Finally managed to get some decent photos of this bee by following it around the yard as it went from dandelion to dandelion. At first I thought is was a small bumbl*ebee but after looking at the photo, it doesn't seem to have the shape of one.

NOT Xylocopa.
This is definitely not a carpenter bee. Could even be an Andrena, though I can't really tell. Wish John Ascher could take another look!
