unknown insect resembling a walkingstick - Ranatra

unknown insect resembling a walkingstick - Ranatra
Cass County, Texas, USA
April 25, 2015
Size: 2"
I found this insect clinging to floating debris in my pond. It strongly resembles a walkingstick but after going through the walkingstick photos, I found no images that showed the long twin tails at the back end of this specimen. The info I read also seems to indicate that walkingsticks in the USA have no wings (or very short ones). This one has long wings and it flew away easily after drying out.
