Bee Fly - Bombylius major

Bee Fly - Bombylius major
Seattle, King County, Washington, USA
April 28, 2007
Size: approx 10mm
The measurement is excluding proboscis. Found on leaf of Himalayan Blackberry in alley behind my house. I tried to get a shot that shows the wing markings as well as venation, but this was the best I could do.

Moved from Bee Flies.

looks like B. major.. everybody but me seems to be able to find this species

I'm sorry...
I snuck up on this one in the morning. I usually can't even get a zoom image, let alone a macro, like this one.
