.
Gary, would you please add information about how this moth was attracted. It is a very interesting find.

info & memory
It was caught around 7pm. That would put it before sunset. Other than lights, I never bait. I have other images/angles for this.
Will submit soon. I've kinda been ignoring moths because of so many repeats. Good to see this. Thank you.

Moth bait
Ann, Dr. Hayden attracted his specimens with molasses-fruit bait or fruit fly attractant, decaying organic matter.

Moved
Moved from Crambid Snout Moths. I also agree that this is probably a Blepharomastix. Beyond that, I don't recognize it.

Maybe Blepharomastix
Look at the comments that were posted for my moth.

pic & comments
Way beyond me, Peter. Good to know we're submitting some not so easy ones.

Another one of these
Gary, I photographed a moth yesterday that appears to be the same species as yours. It's posted here. Who knows, maybe we will get them identified eventually.

Moved
Moved from Moths.

Maybe something along the lines of Pyraloidea » Crambid Snout Moths (Crambidae) » Pyraustinae » Spilomelini » Herpetogramma.
