Sand prairie ant or ant-like insect. - Cyrtophorus verrucosus
North Judson, Starke County, Indiana, USA
May 1, 2015
Photographed on Prunus americana flowers in a fairly well preserved xeric sand prairie area. The size of a typical carpenter ant. I have additional photos, one appears to show a small white band on the front of underside the abdomen.
