Prepops insitivus in South Carolina - Prepops insitivus
Goose Creek, Berkeley County, South Carolina, USA
May 2, 2015
Size: 2 cm (guess)
Hey all,

My kids found this yesterday after I'd mowed. I posted it at Spider Forums (in the insect ID forum) here:http://forums.spiders.us/showthread.php?t=12388. It has since died.

I believe after closely comparing it to the suggested insects that it is a Prepops insitivus (http://bugguide.net/node/view/779651/bgpage)

Moved
Moved from ID Request.

For what it's worth...
P. insitivus looks right to me.

Welcome to BugGuide!

A
New one for South Carolina if so.

True, but...
...SC is within the species' expected range, so the pic doesn't really provide any new information. I would not be inclined to keep an image of this quality just to fill in a blank space on BG's map. However, I know that plenty of others feel differently, so I'll leave it for them to place or not as they see fit. :)

If needed...
I still have the insect (although dead). All the pictures to-date have been the "best" from my iPhone. I can take a picture with my macro setting on my digital camera if that helps.

that
Would be best. Just edit this one out to add a different one.

Ok
Done

Completely
understandable. Just trying to keep some young children interested in insects, they were curious and excited about their bug. Hopefully they will get a better image or find another one.:)
