for the ID, Ross. I photographed this pair under an Aronia melanocarpa (Black Chokeberry) in full flower, which was being visited by many Andrena sp bees (which were also mating, with a particularly violent closing by the males, crashing into females which were visiting flowers and tumbling with them to the ground, which is how I found this pair, searching for a pair of bees which had fallen), so I suppose this mating is bad news for the bees.
