Microvelia
Highway 20 between Sweet Home and Sisters, Linn County, Oregon, USA
May 8, 2015
Size: 3 mm
There wasn't a city close enough to warrant picking one. These were found closer to the city of Sisters, Oregon than Sweet Home, Oregon. But I'd guess the county was Linn County which becomes Deschutes County somewhere closer to the city of Sisters. Found in shallow, still water at the side of a fairly swift creek/river. I'm wondering if this is the adult form or if they get wings. I didn't see any winged specimens in the guide. Note that I shared photos of specimens both with and without spines on their femora. I suspect this is a sexual character??
