Came to our black light at night. Many climbing over a larger beetle.

After looking at Stenolophus ochropezus
I think you are right. I felt that was something wrong with the antennae for
Synuchus impunctatus
, but I couldn't think to a best fit. That's the danger to comment on specimens from states outside of our expertise range...
