Soldier Beetle - Podabrus pruinosus
Seattle, King County, Washington, USA

Size: approx 20mm
I found this beetle on my rose, cleaning it's antennae. These three photos have it's antenna in it's mouth because it froze when I was photographing it. Otherwise, it didn't seem concerned about my presence. I couldn't tell what genus, so I placed it here.

The strong constriction of the head behind the eyes is characteristic of the genus.
