C. ocreatus - Camponotus ocreatus

C. ocreatus - Camponotus ocreatus
Antelope Canyon, Tejon Ranch, Kern County, California, USA
May 8, 2015
These ants were pretty big compared to other species nearby. They were tearing up a grasshopper (Trimerotropis pallidipennis) nearby and funneling pieces into a hole. The colony did not seem to be hundreds and thousands strong like other nearby ant colonies.

Identification
This is not C. ocreatus, most likely C. sansabeanus or C. semitestaceus.
