Conotrachelus iowensis Schoof, female
ID tentatively confirmed from specimen, now a photo-voucher. Thanks John!

Pretty sure you guys are right, seems to key to C. iowensis. A male would allow conclusive ID.

Moved from Butternut Curculio.

C. iowensis I think
I collected a number of these on Callirhytis cornigera galls on Quercus imbricaria in various locations last year. I have tentatively have identified them as C. iowensis.

thanks, Ben -- makes sense, good call
after having played for quite some time with actual specimens of this genus i realized how much the size means and other subtle features that the photos fail to capture
in fact, at this point it's probably easier for me to identify them to species without magnification
