Small Mayfly - Diphetor hageni

Small Mayfly - Diphetor hageni
Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz County, California, USA
May 23, 2015
The antennae and general shape make it look almost damselfly-like, but there are major differences. The forelegs are far longer than the body, and the the thin, delicate tail is over twice the length of the body. The wings are very wide compared to the length. The eyes are very large and supported by a broad somewhat tall supports flared at the top supporting red compound eyes. The long legs, tail, wings, and much of the body are white and possibly not completely opaque.

The overall appearance was small, but the legs and tail were very long and thing. The tail is mostly discernible through its shadow.

Thanks, Roger!
I was pretty sure it was a male imago in Baetidae because I love the eyes of the males in this family! Thanks for the ID to species!
