A Bombus with a shiny abdomen?
Try carpenter bees (
Xylocopa
) instead.

Agreed.
This is a great shot of a female (dark face, smaller eyes) Xylocopa virginica. Bumble bee females have the hind tibia and first segment of the hind tarsus grossly expanded and flattened into a 'pollen basket' with only a fringe of hairs along the edges of an otherwise bare leg (those segments, anyway). On this carpenter bee, you can see no expansion of those segments, but a dense brush of hairs instead.
