Flying insect in Wyoming. - Bibio - Female
Crook County, Wyoming, USA
May 27, 2015
Size: 0.5 inch or 12 mm
Caught one to check its behavior. Very animated, kept trying to fly off the paper and smacking into the glass. I took pics outside and endited so you can see the size of a nail hole on the deck post. Those are basic decking screws, so the hole is about the size of a pinky finger's diameter. It was today, May 27 2015. Seems attracted to my blue spectrum workbench fluorescents. Stopped trying to fly once I turned off the lights and just started walking around the glass.

TONS of these outside, chickens are having a field day catching them.

Bibio (female)…
See reference here.

Thanks.
Found a bibio pic elsewhere that matches mine, now that I knew where to look. Google image search was coming up with nothing similar, regardless how I edited the pics.

Thanks.
