Ladybird Beetle Larva - Harmonia axyridis

Ladybird Beetle Larva - Harmonia axyridis
Norris City, White County, Illinois, USA
May 4, 2007
Size: Approx. 1/2 in. long
This is another strange insect I've never seen before. It had spikes all over it's body and they were light-colored towards the middle. I saw a couple crawling up the side of a tree trunk and then this one fell onto a leaf. I don't know if it's full-grown or just a nymph. Maybe the image is good enough for someone to recognize what it is.

Moved
Moved from Ladybird Beetles.

Good move!
We seem to have this one figured out now.

Ladybird beetle larva - ugly, huh?
I think it's Multicolored Asian Lady Beetle (Harmonia axyridis), mostly because of the box on its back. They're one of the few identified here. Look for pupas next - sort of beetle-shell-like, he said with exceptional scientific precision.

Ladybug larva
Probably Harmonia axyridis, the Multicolored Asian Lady Beetle.
