Possible Prominent moth -
Carboniclava alpicoides
Tonto National Forest, Maricopa County, Arizona, USA
April 26, 2015
Size: wing length 25mm
This looks like a Prominent Moth to me, but I can't find a good match. It's a pretty worn individual.

Yes, alpica got bounced around between Oligocentria
and Ianassa, but Miller et al. decided it didn't belong in either and created a new genus, Carboniclava for it. Then they found the Texas and Arizona moths to be different, so alpica is found in West Texas and they named the Arizona species alpicoides.

Jim, you are right and it is not hard to place it in the Genus Oligocentria. From there it gets dicey. It could be a worn
. My photograph here has not been recognized as this species by anyone but me, but I have been told by someone not on BG that it is one.

Thanks Ann. Yours looks just like mine. Back to the drawing board. I'll peruse Oligocentria again.
