Unknown moth type insect - Scoliopteryx libatrix
Fairbanks, North Star Borough County, Alaska, USA
May 26, 2015
Size: Less then 1 inch
This moth in my back yard was on the edge of a rough-cut 1x3-in board at 10:30 AM. The temperature was about 58ºF. I wonder if it is a moth, I could see no antennae. It is alive but moved its legs very slowly. I have spent 4 hours searching Roger Tory Peterson Field Guide to Moths and over 6 hours on BugGuide.net and have found nothing close to this moth at this time. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
