Size: 1 - 1.5 inch length
tentatively identified as Euphydryas phaeton but out of typical range. Large number of catepillars throughout damp graminoid meadow (old field); they appeared to be on developing Solidago spp.

Sure looks like it. It's rare in Algoma but has been recorded in that region before.
