Pearl Crescent For Illinois In May - Phyciodes tharos

Size: Approx. 2 in. wingspan
Data posting for this species in Illinois, for the month of May.

The Pearl Crescent population here has just exploded during this past week or so. I've never seen one with such a wide strip of white along the outer edges of the wings. The kind I usually see around here have just a thin strip of white in that area, and bigger, rounder dots.
