the worker ants were rather aggressive towards me but the beetle crawled among them unmolested

you cannot separate rorulentus and pyrsolepis...
without examining the underside of the thorax!

...could be pyrsolepis or rorulentus, but need to see tarsal grooves on the hypomeron to separate them.

I'll take more pictures, but that detail
