Cameraria corylisella

Charley Eiseman advised me to check with Terry Harrison about this moth and see if it could be identified to species or if I should leave it at the genus level.

That was my assessment too, when I tried running it through Braun's key.

Cameraria corylisella...
...does look to be the best match among the illustrations in Braun's revision.

Thanks Mr. Harrison!
I really appreciate you checking on this. I don't often ask for ID help. I try to do the leg work myself - or my husband does. This is exciting that this is the best match in Braun's revision, which I don't have access to. I have heard about you from Jon Rapp (and Charley Eiseman) and feel very fortunate to have your help. I look forward to working with you in the future.

Braun's revision...
can be accessed
here
. Both
Cameraria
and
Phyllonorycter
were placed in the genus
Lithocolletis
at the time, but they were divided into "group 1" (
Phyllonorycter
) and "group 2" (
Cameraria
) in Braun's revision.

Thanks! I didn't know I could access it.
Appreciate this knowledge very much! I have no idea how you wade through all that. Oh, my! What dedication. It's been a while since I've had to read journals like that. I am much more visual, not that I can't read Transactions of the Ent. Society. I used to be a librarian for a living - for St. Louis University and then Washington University's Biology Library. Ha! I've had enough journals for a lifetime.

There are color plates in the back, as Terry noted...
but many of these moths look so similar to me that I rely on the key to figure out what the differences are supposed to be.
