Range
primarily Palaearctic (90% of world spp.), with some representation in NA and the Old World tropics
Food
hosts: This family appears to have been initially associated, besides Aplodontidae, also with Ctenodactylidae and Dipodidae, which have existed since Early Eocene. The subsequent distribution of the family resulted from their coevolution with Cricetidae (which appeared early in Oligocene) and later with Muridae (since Pleistocene).
