Checkerspot? - Euphydryas
Olympic National Park, Clallam County, Washington, USA
May 30, 2015
Photo taken along the Obstruction Point road, around 5,000 feet.

In The Butterflies of Cascadia, p 312, Pyle shows a photo with a well matched color pattern labeled edithana ♂.b (Euphydryas editha edithana)--red white white starting from the upper wing edge. But on the following page, the painting of Euphydryas editha edithana doesn't look exactly the same.

chalcedona?
Here's a bugguide photo from the same general area labeled Euphydryas chalcedona. The pattern looks close to my two here.
