large spider - Female
Jefferson, White Mountains County, New Hampshire, USA

Size: ~14mm
Found under a rock, and she was eating another spider. The pattern on the victim looks like a Hackle*mesh weaver. Could that have been her mate?

Moved
Moved from Hacklemesh Weavers.

From Rod Crawford:
These look like cybaeids to me but I could be wrong.

Thanks John and Jane
This was the largest Amaurobiid I've seen.

It will be interesting to see
what Jeff and Eric say!

Certainly reminds us of
Amaurobiidae - Hacklemesh Weavers. We don't know about mate eating in the group, but the eye pattern and carapace make us think Hacklemesh.

Yes.
I agree. Some females can reach surprising proportions:-)
