Angel Lichen Moth Encounter - Cisthene angelus

Angel Lichen Moth Encounter - Cisthene angelus
Tonopah Desert, Maricopa County, Arizona, USA
April 13, 2015
Size: 13mm
These are close up images of an Angel Lichen Moth, Cisthene angelus. I filmed it on the back steps and then, I saw something run by during the filming process. This is one of the many moths that come to the light at night. I was trying to get some good shots of the head, when suddenly, a male Velvet Ant zipped by and then disappeared faster than I could see it. I included one blurry shot of him, but don't have any plans to find his ID, at this point. He is a type of nocturnal Velvet Ant that is very difficult to ID, even from a good image.

I hope that you like all of the close crops and I want to thank Randy Hardy and the other people that posted the other great images of this moth. This is my first moth submission.
