Small-Eyed Sphinx Moth - Paonias myops

Small-Eyed Sphinx Moth - Paonias myops
Norris City, White County, Illinois, USA
May 7, 2007
Size: Approx. 1.5 in. long
This moth had the strangest shaped wings I've ever seen on one. As it sat for the image, it was at least 2.25 inches wide at the wings.

Photographed with fill-flash.

This image is one of the best on the species image page.
Other poor quality images from states that have two or more records,
or lousy images with two or more posts of the same specimen need to be frassed instead.
