Magicicada septendecim
Hello Stacey! It's been awhile! Your cicada is an M. septendecim based on the presence of red on the thorax next to the start of the wings along with the orange banded abdomen. This species is less common than [I]M. cassini[/url] for Brood IV (Kansan Brood). It's good to know that you have them. Please report your sighting to magicicada.org if you have not already!

I forgot...
...to mention that M. septendecim is the largest of the three species of 17 year cicada. It makes a distinctive "phaaaaaaarraoooh, phaaaaaaarraoooh" call.
